Day 38 - Ponca City

It was 43 miles from Pond Creek to Ponca City. Storms were to hit here around 5-6pm. I hustled to get here. This has been occurring for several days now. I hurry to get to my final destination of the day, to try and miss the afternoon storms!  I arrived safely, and decided to stay at the Osage casino and hotel instead of the Double N motel (which is right next door!). The difference between the two places is night and day. Sheryl and Gene will be here around 6:45, and are staying here as well. It's very nice! I like that esp when it's storming outside. I feel safe in here.
When The Moulden's arrive, I'm so happy to see them! It brings me back to a world I know, and one I'm familiar with. I lose touch living on the road. I'm not like my regular self - or anyone else. That is, except John. Our lives are not normal, and resemble nothing like they used to. Seeing Sheryl and Gene 1) help me realize how out of touch I am with my regular life, and 2) help me understand that others want to see - and experience - what it is like. I'm happy to share this experience with them. We will all start out together tomorrow, at 5 am. I can't wait to tell you all about it at day's end tomorrow!
We had a wonderful dinner tonight, and as usual, I ate and ate. We caught up on what's going on, and talked about the weather for tomorrow. It doesn't look too promising, but it's SO hard to know what it's really going to be like, until that time.
I have to apologize for keeping this short tonight. It's getting late, and I feel the need to get to sleep. So my blog will suffer today, due to my priority for rest.
Hygiene Report:
I took a hot shower, even shaved my legs! I did wash my clothes in the shower, as there are no laundry facilities here. That's okay, because with the rain, my clothes will be messy in no time again tomorrow! Sheryl gave my some coconut oil for my hands and dry places. Between the wind and sun, it's zapping all moisture out of my exposed skin. My hands and face look like they belong to someone who lives in the desert. I look in the mirror, and wonder "what is happening?". I can't stop this damaging progress. Being outside all day, everyday, is taking a toll on my skin. This is a short term thing, so it will all heal eventually.
Final thought: In a attempt to calm my nerves about the weather, last night, in Pond Creek, as I was going to bed, I turned the channel to Church TV.  Joel Olsten was on, and was talking to me! He was giving a sermon on how God puts obstacles in our way, and how this helps us in our lives. I feel asleep listening to him, and the TV stayed on all night on Church TV. I got up this morning knowing that if weather is my obstacle, the I shall do my best to deal with it. I think that's going to apply to tomorrow much more than today. The bad weather doesn't want to let up.
Enjoy your Saturday! I'm looking forward to a fun one with my sister and brother-in-law!! Who wants to push the cart first??
